Why hire a Marine Surveyor?

There are several important reasons why you should consider having your boat inspected by a professional marine surveyor:

1: Safety: A thorough inspection by a marine surveyor can identify any safety issues that may be present on your boat. This includes things like faulty wiring, gas leaks, and other hazards that could pose a risk to you and your passengers.

2: Condition: A marine surveyor can assess the overall condition of your boat, including its hull, deck, and mechanical systems. This can help you identify any areas that may need repair or maintenance, allowing you to address these issues before they become more serious and potentially more expensive to fix.

3: Insurance: Many insurance companies require a marine survey before they will provide coverage for your boat. By having your boat inspected by a professional marine surveyor, you can provide your insurance company with the information they need to determine the appropriate coverage for your vessel.

4: Resale value: If you plan to sell your boat in the future, a marine survey can provide valuable information to potential buyers about the condition and safety of the vessel. This can help you get a fair price for your boat and make the sales process go more smoothly.

5: Negotiating power: When purchasing a used boat, the findings of a marine surveyor can assist you in negotiating a lower price with the seller or ensuring that any needed repairs are seen to before the deal goes through.

Overall, a professional marine survey can provide valuable information about the safety, condition, and value of your boat. Whether you're a new boat owner or a seasoned sailor, investing in a marine survey can help you protect your investment and enjoy your time on the water with greater peace of mind.

What does it cost to have a boat surveyed?

The cost of a survey varies depending on which type you want but generally you can expect to pay between $18.00 to $25.00 multiplied by the length of the boat in feet.
Additional costs may include a rigging survey, oil sample analysis, reinspection of a previously surveyed boat and consultation work.

How soon after the inspection can I expect to receive the report?

We always try to publish our reports no later than one business day after completing the vessel's inspection, however, occasionally this is not possible due to factors outside of our control.
On the other hand, about 80% of our reports are published on the same day.
